  Chaya Sarah Bacharach
  leslie's pic

Chaya Sarah has been incorporating movement as form of release and meditation since a young age. Through both study and experience she holds a spectrum of understanding of fluidity and form. She studied movement abroad, in South East Asia from Thailand to Indonesia. Taking technique while simultaneously deconstructing all rigid ‘form’ and bridging that into a personal experience of the ways our bodies organically long to be moved. Creating a place where periphery drops, coming into ourselves to truly connect to our authentic ‘I’. Connection to others draws in a potent part of the very essence, seeing through reflection. Chaya Sarah lived, worked and taught at the Omega Institute in Rhinebeck, New York. She has taught movement in Hawaii, Kripalu, and Los Angeles. She has worked extensively in the work of and with Melissa Micheals. Melissa has served both as a mentor and exquisite resource. Chaya Sarah is currently studying at the Leven Institute for somatic expressive therapy in Massachusetts. She also studied at Naropa University in Boulder for somatic psychology and had the opportunity to teach with Nataraja Kallio for the Traditional Eastern Arts program for yoga.  Nataraja exposed her to a plethora of wisdom, discipline and the capacity of foresight with clear vision to truly create her dreams. A huge intention for her is to merge the physiological competent to the map of how we feel moved to move in the world. Chaya Sarah holds a very strong and safe container around all movement work knowing both the holiness of letting go and the strength to be seen.

Sacred Sol

Katherine received her Nia White Belt in the beginning of 2002. Shortly after that, she discovered TranceDance with Wilbert Alix, a neo-shamanic approach to experiencing an inner spiritual journey to self-discovery and healing. This led her to study Somatic Psychology at Naropa University. With a passion for self-exploration, dance and travel, Katherine spent several years in other countries exploring the nature of dance in other cultures. She brings her love of dance and influence of dance in other cultures to all of her classes, which include: salsa, merengue, tango, dance-hall reggae, hip-hop, modern, and others. She strives to dance on the edge of who we are by constantly challenging ourselves to go further. Bring yourself, your body, and an open mind. Katherine has recently developed her own form of dance and spiritual expression, Sacred Sol, which she is teaching at Alchemy of Movement.
